Backend engineer in Bengaluru designing and delivering distributed, high-throughput systems across fintech and data engineering — Java, Spring Boot, Kafka and cloud-native microservices on AWS. My work spans enterprise data platforms, financial workflows and product backends, and I build systems projects in Go to understand protocols, storage and concurrency from the inside.
Experience
Visa · Software Engineer
Apr 2025 – presentData & Privacy · Bengaluru
- Architected Spring Boot microservices for enterprise PI/PII classification, deployed across two data centres; expanded coverage from
~10 manually handled→ 80+ automated personal-information element types across 29+ heterogeneous data stores, with SSL/mTLS, LDAP/SSO and role-based access control. - Built a DaaS integration module querying metadata for 129,000+ database instances using Elasticsearch nested aggregations; resolved three critical production discovery bugs; source onboarding
2–5 days→ < 5 min. - Designed JSON-based policy metadata with soft deletion and automatic versioning, achieving 100% scan reproducibility across three MVP releases; rule-change turnaround
> 30 min→ < 2 min. - Built the backend for a human-in-the-loop review portal, enabling 100% PI-label governance compliance: paginated REST APIs under 500 ms for 1,000+ results, a four-method confidence breakdown and regulatory export.
- Recognised with the Visa Rising Star Award.
Thoughtworks · Application Developer
Jul 2023 – Apr 2025Client: Piramal Capital & Housing Finance · Bengaluru
- Worked on Piramal's Loan Against Mutual Funds (LAMF) platform serving high-net-worth customers with portfolios above ₹5 crore: integrations with mutual-fund registrars CAMS and KFintech, built for resiliency and scalability.
- Productionised an existing standalone reconciliation tool as a service integrated with microservices and the AWS SDK: thread-safe account-wise processing with a blocking queue and retries, database/S3 persistence, carry-forward of unmatched transactions and manual matching — letting operations teams independently reconcile millions of transactions for financial audits; turnaround
5 days→ 1 day (80% faster). - Automated financial-report generation with chunked processing and the Java Stream API (Spring Boot, MongoDB, S3); processing
24 h→ < 1 h (96% faster), for quicker report verification and decisions. - Built Spring Boot APIs with retry and resiliency for migrating millions of records; Kafka streaming for large record volumes.
- Diagnosed heap errors with VisualVM and moved large in-memory work to chunk-wise streams; replaced a reflection-based mapper with direct mapping.
- Implemented a rate limiter with Redis and Spring Aspect to protect availability against request floods, supporting 99.9% SLA compliance.
- Practised TDD with JUnit, Mockito, Hamcrest and integration tests. Recognised with the Thoughtworks WHY Award.
Systems projects
cache-serverGo
A Redis-compatible in-memory server, wire-compatible with standard Redis clients: RESP v2, strings, lists, sorted sets on a skip list, streams, TTL expiry, pub/sub, master–replica replication and MULTI/EXEC transactions. Began as a CodeCrafters challenge.
goshGo
An interactive Unix-style shell with parsing, pipelines, redirection, history, completion and automated release packaging.
circuit-breakerJava · Go · Redis
Resilience experiment using health/TTL-driven request gating.
consistent-hashingJava
A consistent-hashing implementation study.
Side projects
SuljhaooIn development
Retail management for kirana shops. Worked across the Flutter app and Spring Boot backend: offline-first sync for stock, expenses, suppliers and purchases; OTP sign-in and long-lived sessions; subscription entitlements; WhatsApp credit reminders via SQS; multi-node scheduler locking; admin analytics.
Payment SDKsVersioned SDKs
Extracted subscription payments into reusable Spring Boot and Flutter/JS SDKs: provider-aware checkout (Cashfree, Razorpay), idempotent checkout, webhook de-duplication and automated releases.
Course platformIn development
Messaging, upload lifecycle, infrastructure and browser auth: SQS events, upload cancellation, idempotent video status updates, a MediaConvert/Lambda pipeline in Terraform, cookie-based auth with CSRF.
SmartNivasWeb · mobile prototype
Service-request and document workflows across the web frontend and API, plus early React Native mobile work.
